LUCY KENT

ARTIST

Lucy’s old website was tired and made conversions challenging. The layout was clunky, and available work and workshops were separated and difficult to find. The brief was to create a bold, colourful site that reflected Lucy’s work and put her paintings front and centre. I adapted Lucy’s old logo and created a new suite of colours and fonts for a fresh look that represents Lucy and her practice perfectly. Most importantly, her available paintings are right where they need to be on the homepage, and her new shop puts paintings and workshops in one place.

BEFORE

Lucy’s old site was clunky and didn’t reflect her dynamic, colourful work. Available paintings didn’t appear at all on the homepage and it was hard to access information about Lucy’s background and her practice. The main navigation was messy and parts of the site weren’t responsive, making it look messy on mobile.

DURING

Lucy’s work is incredibly colourful and reflecting this in the colours for the site was one of the key parts of the brief. I created a palette of three strong colours paired with two pale tones to use as backgrounds and for the majority of the text. Making sure that available paintings were on the homepage was also crucial.

AFTER

The finished site is bold, clean and easy to navigate. The strong green and pale pink offset the bright colours in Lucy’s paintings, and the postbox red buttons add an unexpected pop of colour that fits Lucy’s style perfectly. The site is easy to navigate and makes conversions smooth and fuss-free for the user.
